It's a wrap

After 9 weeks we have come to the end of our DFI journey. The first thing we talked about this morning after our initial touching base on what has been working well and what has not was the ubiquitous nature of learning in a digital world and how our learners are able to access their learning any place, any time and at any pace. This is positive for those who learn better in different environments and at different times or who may appreciate connecting with others outside the classroom. It is also beneficial for the students whānau to be able to access their child's learning in their home environment. The rewindable nature of the learning means that those students who have for whatever reason missed parts of the learning are able to access this themselves and catch up.

We gave our feedback to Manaiakalani on how valuable the course has been for us. It feels good to do this and know the people that will be considering our thoughts and potentially acting on them. I have thoroughly enjoyed the course and would recommend that anyone undertakes it.

A bit of final prep work and words of advice and we began the Google Educator Level 1 exam. After almost 3 hours in working away I got my results and have passed. It is fantastic to have something concrete, along with the DFI badge to show how far we have come!

I feel that as well as becoming much more confident in using Google Tools in the classroom and in my private life, I have development specific skills which will enable me to support my students in their learning journey. The possibilities that have been shown to us through the course are huge and I can see that this is only a small piece of what can be done. One step at a time....

  1. Kia ora Angela,
Great work on the pass today, you have impressed me with your efforts and commitment over the last nine weeks. NBC now has a large cohort of teachers who have attended the DFI so there are plenty of support opportunities moving forward.
Looking forward to 2020 maybe there is an opportunity for me to support your digital learning environment as part of the in class facilitation?
    Nga mihi,
    Mark
